Greeley Closes Streets Because Of Flooding

6-8 Inches On 71st Avenue

Greeley has closed three roads in a rural area of the city because of flooding.

Higher than normal runoff has swelled the Poudre River in Greeley.

"We have 6 to 8 inches of water on 71st Avenue," Jerry Pickett, street superintendent with Greeley Public Works told 7NEWS.

Three roads are closed:

  • 71st Avenue from Poudre River Ranch subdivision north to O Street
  • 83rd Avenue from C Street to O Street
  • 95th Avenue from C Street to O Street

We don't want people to drive through the flooded area and suddenly find out the road is washed out, said Pickett. City officials are concerned part of the road could be washed away and a driver wouldn't know it.
