Wheat Ridge police hunt for stuttering crook nicknamed the 'Bring-your-own-bag bandit'

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. - A stuttering bandit who brought his own reusable bag to a robbery in Wheat Ridge is now sought by police.

The suspect entered the Everyday Store at West 38th Avenue and Harlan Street twice on Tuesday, Nov. 19, the Wheat Ridge Police Department reports. The first time was around 8:12 p.m., when he engaged the clerk in conversation.

After leaving the store, the man returned about 20 minutes later with a handgun and a reusable blue bag. Police say he demanded money and left after putting the cash into the bag.

The suspect is described as a white man between 45 and 55 years old. He also has a stuttering speech impediment.
