Gunsmoke Guns burglarized, shop featured on Discovery Channel's American Guns show

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. - Wheat Ridge police are investigating a burglary at a gun shop that was featured on a reality TV show.

Gunsmoke Guns was featured on the Discovery Channel TV show, "American Guns."

A silent alarm sounded at the shop at 4:12 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

When officers arrived at the shop on 44th Avenue, they determined the burglars had gotten in through a hole in the roof.

A witness, who was directly across the street from the Gun Shop, told police about seeing a silver two door car leaving the shop's parking lot and going eastbound on West 44th Avenue. There is no description of the suspects, but police did say it appeared more than one person was involved.

The thieves were gone when officers arrived. Police said the store is still doing an inventory and is unsure how many guns were taken.

Gunsmoke Guns' website says the shop is one of the premiere firearms facilities in the world.

The store is owned by Rich and Renee Wyatt. They buy, sell and trade guns from hand cannons to hunting rifles. Their website also says they can also build a gun from a block of metal.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and explosives are taking part in the investigation.
