WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. -- Two kids who were reportedly kidnapped by their biological mother from Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge Wednesday afternoon have been found safe, officers with the Wheat Ridge Police Department said.

An AMBER Alert was immediately issued for Norma Jean Ortiz, who reportedly left the hospital in a white, 2008 GMC Acadia with CO breast cancer license plate number 230-XGF.

It took about 30 minutes for the Colorado State Patrol and the Morgan County Sheriff's Office to assist the Wheat Ridge Police Department in finding the children.

Ortiz was taken into custody and the children were left under the care of the Colorado State Patrol.
