The state of Colorado has issued a cease and desist order to two pet stores -- Jurassic Pets Thornton and Jurassic Pets Lakewood.

The Colorado Department of Agriculture’s Pet Animal Care Facilities Act program also denied the store's license applications.

Officials said the actions were taken after owners Kenneth and Lynn Kubic pleaded guilty to charges of cruelty to animals.

Kenneth Kubic was convicted of eighteen counts of Cruelty to Animals on May 13. Prosecutors said he neglected kittens, hedgehogs, reptiles and rodents in his store, Jurassic Pets. Some of the animals died.

Lynn Kubicpleaded guilty to cruelty to animals on June 15.

"The Cease and Desist Orders require Jurassic Pets, LLC,  to stop all business activity and advertisements at each facility," the Department of Agriculture said in a news release to Denver7. "It has until August 5, 2016, to finalize business plans related to the company and animals."
