Registered sex offender arrested in sexual assault of a boy at Parker Recreation Center

Police concerned there may be more victims

PARKER. Colo. - A 19-year-old registered sex offender has been arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a boy in a locker room at the Parker Recreation Center on Tuesday night, police said.

Officers were called to the recreation center at 17301 Lincoln Ave. at about 8:45 p.m. about a sexual assault that had just occurred in the locker room.

They learned a man had approached two boys in the locker room, inappropriately touched one of the children and then masturbated in front of the boys, police said.

The boys ran out of the locker room and immediately reported the incident to a recreation center staffer at the front desk.

A recreation center employee ran out into the parking lot, spotted the man getting into a white vehicle. The employee jotted down the license plate number, police said.

Officers used this information and additional investigation to identify, track down and arrest Corrin Elijah Cleveland on suspicion of sexual assault on a child and unlawful sexual contact, police said.

Additional charges are being considered, pending the outcome of the investigation, police said.

Parker police detectives learned that Cleveland is a registered sex offender with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

Police Lt. Doreen Jokerst said investigators are concerned there could be more unidentified victims in the community. She asked anyone who can help identify additional victims to contact Detective Penny VanDenBerg with the Parker Police Department at 303-805-6560.

Police praised the boys for immediately running away and reporting the incident. Police also lauded the swift action of the recreation employee who gathered information on the suspect's car that helped police identify and arrest Cleveland.
