Parker police investigate incident where mom says man tried to lure 4-year-old child to van

Mom was putting children in car

PARKER, Colo. - Parker police are investigating an incident where a mother said a man attempted to lure her 4-year-old child into a van last weekend.

Officers were called about 3:30 p.m. Sunday to the Clarke Farms subdivision on a report of suspicious vehicle.

A mother told officers she was placing two of her children in her vehicle when she heard another vehicle pull up in front of her house and a man's voice call out, police said.

As she stepped around the corner of her vehicle to see what was happening, the mother said she saw a teal Chevy Astro van stopped in front of her house.

The woman told police a male in the front-passenger seat of the van was "signaling" with his hands for her 4-year-old child to come over to the van.

When the man spotted the mother, he ducked out of sight and the van took off, police said.

Several witnesses said the teal van had a high-gloss paint job.

Police ask anyone who has information about the incident to call Parker Police Detective Michael Buonicon at 303-805-6524.

Parker police reminded parents to speak to their children about personal safety and what to do if they encounter similar situations and to immediately report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
