The suspect accused of shooting a Northglenn officer multiple times during a traffic stop has been charged with several felonies, including attempted first-degree murder.

Prosecutors with the 17th Judicial District also charged Adrian Moya, 23, with one count of first-degree assault for threatening a peace officer with a weapon, one count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and one count of violent crime, a sentence-enhancer.

In the early morning of Dec. 19, two Northglenn officers were approaching a black Jetta they had pulled over at the Diamond Shamrock gas station at 112th and Huron, when one of the two men inside started shooting. The shots hit one of the officers, but he was protected by his ballistic vest.

The officer shot back at the suspect, hitting him multiple times. Moya was treated for his wounds and then arrested.

He is currently being held on $500,000 bond and will next appear in court on Wednesday, Dec. 30.

The other man in the vehicle with him was arrested on charges unrelated to the shooting.
