Teenagers Robert Morgan and Connor Quick were making a late-night food run on Saturday night, when they saw a car drive right into Lake Loveland.
"It was just kind of instinct. It was the way I was raised. The first thing to do was just help the person," 18-year-old Morgan said.
The pair pulled over and in twenty-degree weather, Morgan jumped into the lake and swam out to save the woman from the sinking car.
"The door wasn't opening so I just kind of went with my gut and elbowed the window twice and it broke out," he said.
He was able to pull the woman out and swam her to shore. Morgan described the experience as feeling "like an action movie."
But the two worried there was someone else in the car, so Quick, who had been calling 9-1-1, jumped in.
"And I searched the car for a couple of minutes. It was fully submerged by the time I was searching it. I was incredibly relieved to know that there wasn't any one in the car," Quick said.
Dive teams checked the lake and pulled the car out. The three were taken to the hospital as a precaution, but everyone survived thanks to the college freshmen.
"I'm just glad there wasn't anybody too injured in the situation," Quick added.
"It feels good and my parents are proud. I'm glad I was there at the right time," Morgan said.
The twenty-two year-old woman driver was eventually charged with DUI and careless driving.
Both teens are now back at college after Thanksgiving break.
