Sentencing Friday for Jonathan Shank, convicted of a shootout with a Longmont police officer

LONGMONT, Colo. - The man who pleaded guilty to a shootout with a Longmont Police officer is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.

During March, Jonathan Shank admitted to three counts of attempted murder and one count of first-degree assault.

Jonathan Shank was pulled over by Officer Brent Cairns at 2:15 a.m. on May 22, 2013. After his car came to a halt, Shank allegedly opened fire with a .223 caliber rifle.

He allegedly fired 23 rounds.

Officer Brent Cairns got out of his car and returned fire with his police-issued Glock 17. Cairns was not hurt, but Shank was hit at least three times.
