LONGMONT, Colo. -- A  neighborhood is getting back to normal after more than a dozen homes were evacuated overnight due to a bomb squad investigation.

Our Denver7 crew learned that the bomb squad found a pipe bomb during their sweep of a home near Red Mountain Drive and Monarch Avenue.

Longmont Police said, that earlier Thursday evening, they went to the neighborhood to speak with a person whose name had come up in connection to a string of business burglaries from a couple of weeks back.

Another tipster told police the suspect was making pipe bombs inside.

The suspect was stopped by police while leaving the home and was found to be carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, police said. He was then taken into custody.

Officers were able to get a search warrant for the home and brought in the bomb squad to start combing through the house at about 10:15 p.m.  Around 2 a.m. Friday, we confirmed investigators did find one pipe bomb inside.  It's unknown what the suspect planned to do with that explosive.

Residents were allowed to return to their homes around 3 a.m.
