LONGMONT, Colo. - A federal judge on Monday sentenced a Longmont man and his business to pay a total of $20,000 in fines for illegally dumping sewage into Union Reservoir.
John Albert Paquette, 53, and his company, East Point, LLC, were both sentenced to pay fines of $10,000. Both Paquette and his company had pleaded guilty in March to dumping the sewage.
The Department of Justice says Paquette and the company spilled 1,000 gallons of sewage from a hose into the Oligarchy Ditch, which flowed into the reservoir. The sewage came from Paquette’s nearby self-storage company.
