If you want to smoke in downtown Littleton, you're going to have to look a little harder for a place to do it.

The city's new smoking ordinance went into effect this Friday, putting limits on where you can smoke, both regular or e-cigarettes.

Under the new ordinance, smoking is not allowed on public sidewalks, in front of buildings, or in bars and restaurants in a two block radius of Main Street downtown.

Smoking is permitted in designated alleyways, rooftop or back patios, and parking lots with the owner's permission.

According to Littleton.gov, the "Move Your Butts" campaign is aimed at creating a smokeless downtown through education. But according to Littleton police, violating an ordinance could be punishable by up to one year in jail, one year probation, and up to a $2600 fine.
