A fund has been created for the three young sons of a Parker doctor who died after a storm at Chatfield Reservoir.

Dr. Hope Cassel was paddle boarding with her three boys, ages 14, 13 and 11, and a friend of the boys off the swim beach at Chatfield Reservoir Friday at about 1 p.m. when a storm came up, a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said in a statement.

The four boys were able to make it to shore, but Cassel did not. She was found in the water unresponsive. She died Monday.

Cassel's family issued a statement that said Hope "was an amazing, vibrant and loving mother to her three sons."

"As a dedicated OBGYN, she served a number of patients in the Parker area for many years," the statement said. "Her love of life, family and friends makes her loss even more devastating to us. We will miss her big laugh, adventurous spirit and her ability to make those around her feel special and loved."

The family sent a quote from Hope herself that said, "Mothering my children will always be my greatest accomplishment."

The memorial fund will help support Hope's sons. For those wishing to contribute, an account has been setup at Wells Fargo Bank.
