LITTLETON, Colo. – Two dogs have been rescued from the icy waters of a lake in the metro area so far this Saturday.

A West Metro Fire Rescue dive team went to the area of West Quincy Avenue and South Kipling Street at around 11:42 a.m. Saturday on reports of a dog at Harriman Lake Park.

The dog was successfully rescued about 20 minutes later.

West Metro Fire Rescue officials said the dog was off the leash.

Four hours later, at around 4:04 p.m., a golden retriever that went through the ice near Lone Tree Parkway and Sweet Water Road was rescued less than five minutes later.

Denver7 was not immediately able to get details on that water rescue.

Third rescue over the weekend

On Friday morning, Theo the Beagle was chasing geese at Sloan’s Lake in Denver when he ended up trapped on an island.

It took firefighters nearly 30 minutes to cross the ice and wrangle the pup. Additional firefighters had to be called in and eventually Theo was brought back to shore.

Theo had escaped from his owner’s backyard.

Fifth rescue in the month of January

Last weekend, Denver Fire officials rescued two people and two dogs at Washington Park.

The first rescue involved two people that went inside an icy pond to rescue their dog before they both needed to be rescued as well.

The second rescue that weekend involved another dog in the same area who was rescued without injury.
