LAKEWOOD, Colo. - A sexually violent predator who was supposed to be living in Lakewood is missing without a trace.
Nick Medina, 38, was released from the Colorado Department of Corrections in mid-June. Lakewood Police say he was convicted of sexual assault on a child and is known to have been involved in gang activity.
Police say Medina had indicated he would be residing at 5601 W. Colfax Ave., Unit 7. During a random check at the Lakewood Lodge, officers found Medina had left without notifying anyone.
"I think that a good analogy would be that he is a walking time bomb," said Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis. " They feel like he is primed and the type of person who is going to re-offend."
Medina has not been seen or accounted for since and there are two active warrants for his arrest.
Police said there are more than 400 registered sex offenders living in Lakewood and only eight are classified as sexually violent predators.
Anyone who sees Medina or has information about his whereabouts is asked to call Lakewood Police Department at 303-987-7111.
Police say Medina should be considered dangerous.
