LAKEWOOD, Colo. - A hit-and-run suspect was arrested Monday afternoon after a man and a girl were hit crossing a Lakewood street Monday afternoon, police said.

The pedestrians were struck while crossing the street at West 10th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard at about 3:55 p.m., said Ryan McKone, spokesman for the Lakewood Police Department.

The victims were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver fled the scene and was caught a short time later at West Sixth Avenue and Ingalls Street with the help of some good Samaritans and nearby officers, McKone said.

The driver faces charges of hit-and-run and careless driving, McKone said. His name was not immediately released.
