Best Buy security guard pepper sprayed by robbery suspect

LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Surveillance photos show a Best Buy security guard following a robbery suspect who pepper sprayed him a moment later.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Best Buy located at 384 S. Wadsworth Blvd. Lakewood Police say the suspect was exiting the store with some stolen electronics when the loss prevention officer tried to stop him.

"The suspect confronted the loss prevention officer and sprayed him in the face with what is believed to have been pepper spray," police wrote in a statement about the crime. "During the confrontation, the loss prevention officer was able to retrieve at least one piece of the electronic equipment."

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male in his mid-twenties. He was approximately 5-foot-10 or 5-foot-11 tall and weighed approximately 170 pounds. He was carrying a black shoulder-slung satchel and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray beanie cap, black jeans and black and white shoes.
