HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. -- A 63-year-old woman who crashed into the front of a Highlands Ranch FedEx was actively trying to steer the vehicle to avoid hitting anyone inside the store, according to witness accounts given to authorities.

The female driver of a red Subaru sedan crashed into the FedEx store in the area of West Highlands Ranch Parkway and South Ridgeline Boulevard at around 1 p.m., said Douglas County Colorado State Patrol Sgt. Attila Denes.

Fortunately, no one was injured as she drove 15-feet into the store early Thursday afternoon.

"As near as we can ascertain at this time, there were no mechanical issues with the car, the gas pedal wasn't wedged," said Denes.

Sgt. Denes said the 63-year-old may have mistaken the gas pedal for the brake.
