GREELEY, Colo. - Greeley police say the father of a baby was the mystery man who "dropped off" the child with a resident on a street Monday night.
In a 1:38 a.m. Tuesday news release, Greeley Police Sgt. Adam Turk said investigators had located the baby's parents and the investigation was ongoing. Police didn't identify the parents or the baby.
The investigation began at 7:17 p.m. when an unidentified Hispanic man who was "sweating profusely" handed the infant to a resident in the 1900 block of 12th Avenue, Turk said.
At the time, Turk said the police department was "seeking assistance in locating the parents of the baby and is concerned about the welfare of the baby's mother."
The man who abandoned the child was described as a Hispanic between 20 to 30 years old, who is 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-10-inches tall. He was wearing a short sleeve button-down shirt and baggy jeans. The man had very short dark hair, no facial hair and crooked teeth.
Police later determined the man was the baby's father, Turk said, adding that investigators were still trying to learn if the father knew the person he left the child with.
"The baby is in good health," Turk said. Police said baby appears to be between 4-to-8 months old and was wearing a multi-colored jump suit.
