Greeley police charge men with car thefts, robbery and fraud

GREELEY - Chased down and arrested, two men now face a long list of charges related to alleged robbery, fraud and car thefts.

Robert Drake, 34, and Bobby Ray Denton, 36, were chased and arrested by members of the Greeley Police Department's Special Enforcement Team. The officers had spotted them in a stolen vehicle along the 500 block of 16th Street.

Drake is facing three counts of aggravated motor vehicle theft, aggravated robbery, menacing, eluding an officer, identity theft and four counts of theft. Denton is facing two counts of aggravated motor vehicle theft, aggravated robbery and theft.

The first stolen car in the case was reported on Jan. 20, at approximately 6:45 a.m. About 30 minutes later, that car was used in the armed robbery of a Sinclair gas station at 2544 11th Ave.

Other cars were stolen on Jan. 23 and 24 and a debit card left in one of those cars was allegedly used to make fraudulent purchases.

Drake and Denton are currently being held at the Weld County Jail.
