GREELEY, Colo. - Three alleged gang members who are already behind bars are now accused of taking part in a fatal drive-by shooting last summer.
The shooting occurred on July 1, 2012 in Greeley. Fabian Flores, 20, was riding in a black Chrysler 300 with three friends when they were confronted by rival gang members in another car. Greeley Police spokeswoman Sgt. Susan West says the rivals drove alongside and shot at the Chrysler.
Flores was hit and died in a hospital the next day.
West says that investigators have been working on the case since that time. Their work resulted in three arrest warrants being issued Wednesday for Joseph Robert Bernal, 26; Corey Louie Moreno, 22; and Jose Manuel Velasquez, 28.
Bernal and Moreno are both currently in the Weld County Jail. They're both facing charges of murder in the first degree after deliberation and extreme indifference. Additionally, they're charged with three counts of criminal attempt at murder in the first degree after deliberation and extreme indifference.
Velasquez is in the Department of Corrections. He is facing one count of accessory to murder in the first degree.
The current incarceration of the three men stems from charges unrelated to this case.
