GOLDEN, Colo. - A teenager accused of sexually assaulting a child escaped en route to a hearing in Jefferson County Monday, but there is no search for him Tuesday.
The 14-year-old was being taken from Jefferson Hills, a secure facility for children, to court by Jefferson Hills Transport, County Sheriff's Spokesman Mark Techmeyer confirmed. The boy ran from the transport officers in the parking lot and got away.
He is still considered an escapee, Techmeyer said, but there is no active search. While deputies were asked to help search the immediate area of the courthouse, Jefferson Hills has a do not pursue policy.
