Surveillence photos show suspect on spree

GOLDEN, Colo. - Authorities are trying to identify a woman suspected of stealing a purse from a parked car in Golden and using the victim's credit cards on a nearly $2,000 shopping spree.

Investigators are asking the public to help identify the theft suspect, a young woman with shoulder-length brown hair. She was captured on store surveillance cameras holding the stolen white Coach purse, using the victim's credit cards and leaving a store with a shopping bag, said Jefferson County sheriff's spokeswoman Mark Techmeyer.

The crime spree began last Sunday, when a woman taking a bike ride left her car parked at the Stegosaurus parking lot, located at 1104 County Highway 93 in Golden. The owner returned to the car find someone had stolen her purse and the credit cards.

The credit cards were used to purchase electronic devices worth nearly $2000 at two Best Buy stores and a Sears store, all in Lakewood, Techmeyer said.

The sheriff's office also released a photo of a red four-door Honda Accord that is believed to be linked to the suspect.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office tip line at 303-271-5612.
