Woman died of drowning in Poudre River rafting mishap, coroner finds

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The woman who drowned in a rafting mishap in the Cache La Poudre River was identified Thursday by the Larimer County Coroner's Office.

Rebecca Knight, age 26, of Fort Collins, was riding in a privately-owned raft with three others when it overturned around 2:40 p.m. The overturned raft was reported about 14 miles west of Ted's Place.

The three other rafters were able to get themselves to shore but the Dive Rescue Team was dispatched to find Knight. When they got her out of the water, she was airlifted to an area hospital but did not survive.

The coroner determined her death was an accident, caused by asphyxia by drowning.
