Pedestrian hit, killed as he crossed street in Fort Collins; Police investigating

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Police are investigating after a man was hit and killed in Fort Collins while crossing a street late Friday night.

The crash near the area of College Avenue and Saturn Drive was reported at around 9:50 p.m., according to Fort Collins Police Services.

A 2001 Chevrolet Camaro was going south on College when it hit the 25-year-old man who was crossing College from east to west, according to a press release from the department.

The victim’s identity will not be released until his family has been notified by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.

Fort Collins resident Gary Vandriel, 55, who police identified as the driver of the Camaro, was not injured.

The intersection of College Avenue and Saturn Drive was closed for approximately four hours while investigators processed the scene. The investigation is continuing.

Police do not believe the driver of the sedan was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
