An active search is underway at Interstate 25 and Highway 66 for evidence in a murder case.
The search by Larimer County Sheriff’s Office investigators and members of the FBI Evidence Response Team began at 8 a.m. Friday.
Officials with the Sheriff's Office said the search is "part of the ongoing homicide investigation involving Tanner Flores."
Flores, 18, was arrested last Friday on suspicion of murder in the first degree and kidnapping after Ashley Doolittle's body was found in Collbran, near Grand Junction. The teenagers were from Larimer County.
Flores told investigators he shot Doolittle near Carter Lake because he was angry with her, the arrest affidavit said. It did not mention I-25 and Highway 66.

Flores was booked into the Larimer County Jail Friday afternoon on a warrant for first degree murder, felony murder and second degree kidnapping, according to a statement released by the Larimer County Sheriff's Office. No bond has been set in the case.
