Driver Ashlie Dickerson charged in Poudre School District bus crash

WELLINGTON, Colo. - A Fort Collins woman has been charged with careless driving causing injury after her car slammed into the back of a Poudre School District bus, injuring her, the bus driver and three students.

The crash occurred at 6:44 a.m. on Friday, April 18, near the intersection of Larimer County Roads 82 and 15, which are also known as Buckeye Road and Terry Lake Road. The intersection is about 6 miles west of Interstate 25.

Trooper Nate Reid says 24-year-old Ashlie Dickerson was released from the hospital on Monday. The students and bus driver suffered minor injuries in the accident Friday morning.

"It sounded like a big shotgun that -- it just went off," said Wellington Middle School student Brianna Meyer, who lives near the bus stop.

Authorities say Dickerson's car ran into the back of the bus and got lodged underneath it while the bus was stopped.

"[The kids] they were shocked, they looked like they were going to cry," Meyer said.

Dickerson could not be located for comment Tuesday.
