FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- A domestic abuse suspect who died after police officers in Fort Collins used a Taser, then shot him, was identified by the Larimer County Coroner Friday.
Jerry Jackson, 63, allegedly entered the victim's home illegally with a knife, leading the woman inside the home to call for help just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Officers responding to the scene said Jackson left the house, only to walk towards police brandishing the weapon. Police tried to stop him using a Taser, but the Taser did not work. That's when three officers shot Jackson.
No police were injured in the shooting, but Jackson, who first responders rushed to the Medical Center of the Rockies, died moments later.
Officers Bryan Brown, Allen Heaton and Nick Rogers will be placed on administrative leave, per department protocol.
Highway 287 was closed from Highway 1 to Shields St for approximately nine hours while the scene was processed for evidence.
