DENVER - A Denver motorist suffered minor head injuries Friday afternoon, when the car he was driving slammed into the front door of the Skylark Lounge on the southeast corner of Broadway and Maple.
The bartender told 7NEWS she was standing behind the bar looking toward the door when she heard a loud screeching sound.
"I look out and I see a car coming into my bar," said "Super" Susi. "I was scared to death."
Susi told 7NEWS that one of her customers was on the patio having a drink.
"He had to hurry and dodge the car," she said, adding that he managed to do so without spilling his drink.
Police say the incident began as a two car crash. Both cars were southbound on Broadway at 3:57 p.m. when one of the drivers changed lanes. The other driver swerved to avoid hitting the first car and instead plowed into the front door of the bar.
Witnesses say the driver was holding his head when he got out of his car. Police say his injuries appear to be minor.
Witnesses also say they saw a passenger in that car grab several temporary license permits before police arrived.
Flying overhead, AIRTRACKER7 saw firefighters blocking Broadway and diverting traffic onto Maple. Traffic was backed up for several blocks during rush hour while firefighters and ambulance crews dealt with the emergency.
Susi said it's the third or fourth time that a car has crashed in front of the bar.
