DENVER - After years of investment and work, Denver's revitalized Union Station was celebrated with a street festival Saturday.
The remodeled historical building features 10 bars and restaurants, three retail stores and a 112-room hotel, in addition to transportation hubs for RTD buses, light rail and trains.
Saturday's grand opening event includes street vendors, food trucks and performances, which will cause street closures in the area. Starting at midnight and lasting through approximately 6 p.m., Wynkoop will be closed in both directions between 16th and 18th streets. Wynkoop to Wazee on 17th Street will also be closed.
Street festival festivities began at 10 a.m. with the official opening ceremony held at noon. Three bands will take to the stage, at 10:45 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.
From noon until 8 p.m., the public can take tours of the historic building. Tickets are free, but for a $1 fee times can be reserved in advance online.
