DENVER - A pickup truck driver hit and seriously injured a Denver pedestrian and then crashed into a tree on Tuesday night, police said.

The accident happened about 7 p.m. at West Union Avenue and South Balsam Way, Denver police said via Twitter.

Police said the pedestrian was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, but was expected to survive.

The driver of a Toyota Tacoma ended up crashing into a tree on the side of the road. Investigators placed several yellow evidence markers at the crash scene.

Details on how the collision happened were not released.

Police tweeted that possible charges were "pending further investigation."
