DENVER -- A new law passed on July 1 requires all drivers to put temporary tags at the same location of the license plate. The law was primarily passed to allow for officers to clearly see the tags.

But officers with the Denver Police Department are now saying temporary tags are being stolen at an alarming rate. During the last seven months, over a 100 temporary tags were reported stolen.

The new law could increase the number of stolen tags and some drivers think it puts them in a bind.

“I think they need to come up with another suggestion, if there is already a problem with people stealing tags they shouldn't require us to put it on the outside of the car," said one driver who wished to remain nameless.
