Gov. John Hickenlooper celebrated the arrival of the New Year with a special message for Coloradans through a message posted on his Facebook page.

"There is much to look forward to; and yet, being an election year, the hullabaloo around the Presidential race is bound to get even louder and more distracting," Hickenlooper said.

But he left politics aside to talk about what he wants to see during the next 366 days.

Here in Colorado, let's continue to lead with kindness.

Let's listen to each other even harder, especially when discussing our differences.

Let's keep striving to find areas of common interest and collaborate to make progress.

Together, we can create even more opportunity and prosperity for our people and our state.

Onward!
