Police: Walgreens pharmacy robber hit two stores

Denver police are asking for the public's help to find the suspect accused of robbing two Walgreens just days apart. Investigators released a still image of the suspect captured from store surveillance video.

Police said the suspect wanted prescription drugs when he walked into the Walgreens on the 16th Street Mall Wednesday. The robbery happened just after 11:00 a.m. Two days earlier the same man is accused of robbing the Walgreens at Federal Boulevard and Speer at 2:10 p.m.

Investigators are concerned because both robberies happened in the middle of the day while customers were in the store. They do not believe the man was armed.

"That’s one of the reasons that we really want to get this guy’s picture out there so that the community can help us to identify him and we can catch him before he has the opportunity to commit another robbery," said Doug Schepman, a spokesperson for the Denver Police Department.

Police radio traffic indicates the suspect handed over a note demanding specific prescription drugs.

On Wednesday, a dispatcher told responding officers, "He asked them to fill it with Adderall and Xanax, said they had a minute to fill it."

During the Monday incident police are overheard discussing a note again, "The note states that you have one minute to put all the Oxycodone and this other drug... in a bag."

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, about 5-feet, 8-inches with glasses. He also had bandages on his nose and left middle finger.

"We would just encourage that anyone, if they have any information about who this person is, that they call police and give us that information so that we can get him off the streets," said Schepman.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, prescription pills can sell for five to ten times retail value on the street. A 30 mg tablet of Oxycodone can cost anywhere from $30 to $40.
