DENVER - A Denver police officer was involved in a vehicle crash while pursuing a fleeing car on Interstate 225 Friday evening, police said.
The crash closed the northbound lanes of I-225 at Iliff at 7:14 p.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Denver police spokeswoman Detective Raquel Lopez said a patrol officer began pursuing a vehicle at about 6:30 p.m. It was unclear what triggered the pursuit.
As the chase headed north on I-225, the officer's vehicle crashed near Iliff Avenue, Lopez said. A viewer told 7NEWS the officer's patrol car crashed into the median.
It was not immediately known if the officer was injured, but an ambulance was called to the scene.
The suspect vehicle kept driving, but it also crashed, police said. The suspect took off on foot, but was soon detained by Aurora police.
