DENVER -- A sweep of Denver's homeless moved the homeless a short distance away.

Tuesday morning, Denver Police told the homeless at Lawrence and Park Avenue West that officers were enforcing a city code that orders the removal of all items of property encumbering any public sidewalks or other public property in the area.

Some homeless packed up and left. Others stayed behind and protested.

Crews from Denver Public Works removed trash and other items.

However, on Wednesday morning, Denver7 found the homeless, including sleeping bags, carts and other items were back just a short distance away.

Many of the homeless told Denver7 they don't have anywhere else to go.

Denver Homeless Outloud told Denver7 they expected the sweep to continue Wednesday.
