A lawsuit says female prosecutors, assistant city attorneys and judicial officers in Denver are paid thousands less than male employees in similar roles.
The Denver Post reports Denver Career Services chief judicial officer Valerie McNaughton said in her lawsuit that she was demoted when she pointed out the discrepancy.
Her lawsuit filed by Denver attorneys Charlotte Sweeney and Ariel DeFazio says McNaughton was paid less than a man under her supervision.
Acting City Attorney Shaun Sullivan said the city is unable to comment on pending litigation.
He noted several factors are considered when determining pay levels in the City Attorney's Office.
McNaughton is seeking compensation for emotional distress, back pay, injunctive relief and attorney fees.
