DENVER - Several streets were shut down in downtown Denver Friday afternoon while the Denver Bomb Squad was called in to look into a suspicious backpack left outside the Colorado Supreme Court Building.
Employees were evacuated from the judicial complex, according to people in the area and police radio traffic.
The black backpack was found outside the court building at 13th Avenue and Lincoln before 1 p.m., the Colorado State Patrol told 7NEWS.
As a precaution, police closed 13th between Lincoln and Broadway, Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.
Around 1:20 p.m. a bomb squad technician opened up the backpack, looked into it and carried it away, according to a 7NEWS photojournalist at the scene.
The roads are expected to reopen momentarily.
