A federal jury has decided that a ground services operator at Denver's airport did not discriminate against Muslim employees by allegedly barring them from wearing head scarves.
The Denver Post reports jurors also ruled Thursday that JetStream Ground Services did not deny the women accommodations because of their religion or retaliate against them.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued the Jupiter, Florida-based company on behalf of six Muslim women in 2013, claiming the company violated their civil rights by refusing to hire them, firing them or cutting their hours for following their religious beliefs.
JetStream attorney Raymond Deeny says the company does not discriminate against women but had to lay off numerous employees when it lost a contract with Denver International Airport.
An attorney for the women declined to comment about the verdict.
