DENVER - Community members are invited to help create a memorial to Denver Police Officer Celena Hollis, who died in the line of duty during a shooting at City Park in June.
The Piton Foundation is inviting people to make "Peace Tiles" that will be used to construct the Officer Hollis Memorial at the Hiawatha Davis Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 3. The recreation center is located at 3334 Holly St. in Denver.
The goal is to create a "memorial for Officer Hollis and the peace she stood for," organizers said. There will be volunteer instructors to help people make their tiles.
The memorial will be installed at the Holly Peace Mural Park and organizers are planning a celebration in mid-to-late November once the memorial is completed.
