It's spring cleaning season, and that means that a lot of people will have a lot of stuff they want to get rid of. Instead of paying someone to ditch their trash, why not do it for free?

This Saturday, May 20, is the 'Great Denver Cleanup,' a day where Denver's Public Works department will accept donations of trash, yard waste like branches and clippings, old furniture, and more at 13 different drop off sites.

Those locations are:
- Acacia Learning Center
- Centennial School
- Cherry Creek Transfer Station
- Denver Coliseum
- Evie Garrett Dennis Campus
- Kepner Middle School
- Lake Middle School
- Abraham Lincoln High School
- Manual High School
- Montbello High School
- North High School
- South High School
- Valverde Elementary School

"Trash will be obviously taken to the landfill. The rigid plastics, those will be taken to a recycling center. The yard waste that is separated from trash will be composted," Heather Burke of the Department of Public Works said.

The cleanup day runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Appliances, electronics, car parts, and hazardous waste will not be accepted.

Denver isn't the only one getting in on the spring cleaning fever. Aurora has a cleanup day scheduled at six different sites. A map can be found here

The towns of Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco, and Silverthorne had to cancel their cleanup days because of the weather.
