Police have arrested a suspect in the murder of a man who lived above a popular bagel shop and deli in Denver.

On May 2, firefighters battling a fire in an apartment above Rosenberg's Bagels and Delicatessen, on 26th Avenue, off Welton Street, found Shane Richardson's body in a closet.

Investigators now say they believe Richardson was shot and killed some time between April 30 and May 2.

The suspect, 30-year-old Brian Scott Pattison is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree arson and multiple counts of possession of a weapon by a previous offender, according to the Denver District Attorney's Office.

Pattison is currently in custody in Las Animas County.

Rosenberg's has been closed since the fire.

Richardson was from Woodland Park.

Family and friends said Shane was a great friend, brother and son. They created a Facebook page to celebrate his life and follow the investigation.
