Two suspects remain on the loose after they robbed a Family Dollar Store Saturday morning, and officers are now investigating if this is connected to a string of other robberies across the Denver metro area.

Denver Police said the robbery happened at around 10:30 a.m.

Two black men, one armed with a handgun, went into the Family Dollar Store at West 19th Avenue and Federal Boulevard, according to DPD spokesperson Doug Schepman.

No injuries were reported in the robbery, Schepman told Denver7.

-- Robbery also in Thornton --

Thirty minutes earlier, in Thornton, another Family Dollar store was robbed at gunpoint near the area of 88th Avenue and Washington Street.

Police said two armed black men wearing blue bandannas on their faces escaped in an unknown vehicle going in an unknown direction.

While the robberies appear to be similar, law enforcement can't say for sure if the two are related, according to Thornton PD Sergeant Matt Cabot.

No injuries were reported from this robbery, Cabot added.

-- Police begin to look at connection with other robberies --

Officers are now trying to figure out if these two Family Dollar robberies might be connected to a string of other robberies in the Denver Metro Area.

Back in Dec. 10, a Family Dollar store was robbed in Lakewood -- and police are still looking for two suspects who were caught in surveillance video committing the crime

Since October, investigators believe these same suspects are responsible for at least 16 robberies across the metro area, including several other Family Dollar stores in Aurora, Denver and Commerce City. They've also targeted gas stations and an auto parts store.

Lakewood Police spokesperson Steve Davis said investigators believe a group of 6 to 8 suspects are taking turns pulling off these robberies.

If you have any information that could lead to an arrest, you are asked to call your local police department.
