The driver arrested for trying to elude a police chase after a shooting in Denver was not involved in the shooting, police said.

Denver police said they were called to a shooting in the parking lot of a Conoco gas station and McDonald's at Colorado Boulevard and Evans Avenue around 2:45 a.m.

Investigators believe some sort of altercation in the parking lot led to a shooting that injured one individual.

That person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers said when they arrived, they spotted a vehicle mentioned in the 911 call. They chased the vehicle for more than 12 miles, finally stopping it in Jefferson County, near Hampden Avenue and Simms Street.

Investigators said one person was taken into custody.

However, after investigating, police determined that person was not involved in the shooting. The driver apparently drove away from officers because the driver had an active arrest warrant.
