Neighbors: Dad shot stepdaughter, them himself

Two people were found dead, and one other was injured, following a shooting inside a Commerce City home early Saturday afternoon.

Neighbors told Denver7 they heard a man had shot his stepdaughter during an argument, and then turned the gun on himself. Police would not go into details in the investigation, only saying all victims in the shooting are related.

A woman who had a head injury reported the shooting to Commerce City Police at around 12:03 p.m. from a neighbor's house, a commander with the police department told Denver7 reporter Eric Lupher at the scene. 

When police arrived to the area of East 96th Avenue and Colorado 2, they found a 62-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman dead with gunshot wounds. The third victim, the woman, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Ives Madan, who lives next to the home, told Denver7 reporter Brendaliss Gonzalez the man living in the home planned to move to Texas. 

"We used to talk a little bit at the door and sometimes he would come and cut our grass or clean the snow and we would do the same for each other," she said.

Another neighbor said he'd moved out, but recently came back.  They believe he and his stepdaughter were the ones found dead. 

Neighbors in the area were told the scene was secure and that there was no longer any danger to the community.
