CASTLE ROCK, Colo. - A Colorado State Patrol trooper is doing OK after being hit by a Hummer on Friday morning, officials said. However, the trooper was taken to a hospital as a "precautionary measure."
The crash happened on Highway 86 at Founders Parkway in Castle Rock at 7:45 a.m.
CSP said the trooper was hit by a distracted driver.
The driver told investigators his phone was ringing, he dropped it and when he went to pick it up, he hit the trooper who was sitting at a stop light.
The trooper's vehicle was pushed into the vehicle in front of him, CSP said.
There were no other injuries reported.
The Hummer driver was cited for careless driving resulting in injury, CSP officials said.
CSP said the trooper was later released from the hospital to recover at home.
