BOULDER, Colo. -- A sexually violent predator who broke the terms of his bond was arrested this weekend in Boulder, police said.

Kerry Fitzgerald Whitfield, 52, was arrested around noon on Friday on one count of Failure to Comply with Bond Condition. Whitfield had reportedly approached an area near a community homeless shelter that was restricted under his release conditions.

Authorities were notified of his activity via an ankle monitor placed on him by police.

Whitfield registered with the Boulder Police Department as a sexually violent predator on Feb. 24, and residents were notified he would be living either in the area of 24th and Spruce Streets or 14th and Walnut Streets.

Whitfield was arrested in March in connection with two sex assaults that took place in Aug. and Sept. of 2015, according to the City of Boulder. He posted bond and was released from jail on Sept. 16 of this year.

Whitfield was also arrested for sex assault on a child back in 2004. He ended up pleading guilty to attempted sex assault on a child and was sentenced to four years in prison.
