BOULDER, Colo. - Following the removal of debris and other flood repairs, the eastern section of Boulder Creek will be opened to recreational use Friday afternoon.
At 5 p.m. the City of Boulder will open the section between the Arapahoe Avenue Bridge and 55th Avenue. The area was previously closed while contractors made it safer for kayakers, swimmers and tubers.
Moving forward, signs will warn recreational users of any continuing work zones. Still, the city warns anyone using the creek should be prepared for changing conditions and unmarked hazards.
This spring and summer, as in past years, the city will close the creek to tubing and swimming if the flows exceed 800 cubic feet per second.
