Report: Man in stolen truck hits school bus, parked cars before ramming porch of Aurora home

17 children in school bus not seriously injured

AURORA, Colo. - Police say man in a stolen pickup truck careened off a school bus and drove a few more blocks, side-swiping parked cars, before crashing into the porch of an Aurora home Tuesday afternoon.

The man jumped out of the Ford F-350 and tried to run away, but "an astute and alert citizen chased him down and held him until police arrived," Aurora police spokeswoman Sgt. Cassidee Carlson told The Denver Post.

None of the 17 students on the small bus from Roca Fuerte Learning Academy were seriously injured, the newspaper reported. The bus was struck at Beeler Street at East 13th Avenue.

The man then drove west on 13th, then south on Akron Street, hitting unoccupied vehicles, before going across the front yard and into the porch of a home in the 1200 block of Akron Street.

Police have not identified the man.

The truck was reported stolen in Denver several weeks ago, Carlson told the Post.
